When comparing the methods used to market the home, agents depend on the yard sign
but have an advantage that the FSBO does not have. Agents aggregate affect due to not
only all of their signs in the yards but all of the signs of all agents who are members of
the Multiple Listing Service. Buyers recognize the convenience of being able to obtain
information on all homes.

“Despite any success in selling their previous homes, not all FSBO sellers were sure if
they would use the same method to sell their current home, or use a real estate
professional in a future transaction. Just 35 percent of FSBO sellers were positive that
they would sell their current home without the assistance of an agent. However, a larger
part of FSBO sellers appears still to be weighing the pros and cons after their first
experience of selling their homes themselves. More than two out of five FSBOs are not
sure whether they want to go through the FSBO experience again, or if they will use a
real estate agent next time they sell a home. Twenty-two percent indicate that they will
use a real estate professional in their future transactions.”

Internet Buyers
The Internet is becoming increasingly more important to purchase and sale of
homes because the majority of buyers use the Internet during their home buying
process. While it is possible for a homeowner as an individual to place their
property on the Internet, it is difficult for them to achieve the amount of exposure
provided by real estate professionals.
